TPM 1 - Braunschweig - 3-8 October 2015.
Brawnschweig
Purpose of the meeting was to fix tasks for all participants. First, all participants will have to fix exact dates (as far as possible) for the meetings of the first year of the programme. Then teachers will watch Al Gore's documentary film "An inconvenient
truth" in order to complete their knowledge of the subject of climate change and to select which parts of the film are most suited to the subject of the project and of use to the students. The next stage will be to work on a common questionnaire for all partner schools on the relevant parts of the Al Gore film. This questionnaire will then complement the students' knowledge on the subject. The teachers' meeting in Braunschweig will define the data to be collected by the weather station (i.e. temperature, humidity, rainfall, windspeed etc.) along with its building specifications. The collected data should be compared with average long-term weather data available with the national weather forecast institution. The teachers will bear in mind the students' age and abilities. The German coordinating school will present its weather station which will help the other partner schools to get an idea of how it works and how to work out simple data-collecting techniques. The group of teachers will write an instruction manual to support the students in building and running their weather stations. Finally the teachers will fix the schedule as far as the operating and frequency of data collecting is concerned to make sure there is no interruption in data collecting including holidays. Furthermore Art teachers will decide on how students will illustrate their findings (photos, drawings, paintings, collages etc.) throughout the whole project. N.B.: Each partner will provide a vocabulary list of useful expressions and words connected to the topic from their own language to English. |
